Azteca Systems Announces Cityworks for ArcGIS
Leading GIS-based Asset and Maintenance Management System Fully Supports ArcGIS from ESRI
Sandy, UT — Azteca Systems announced the release of Cityworks for ArcGIS 8 today. The product will be available at the 2000 ESRI User Conference. Cityworks for ArcGIS fully leverages the ArcGIS for Utilities object GeoDatabase data model and places full work order management in the hands of Arc 8 users.
Azteca Systems together with various ESRI Business Partners and ArcGIS users assisted in the development of the first industry standard GeoDatabase model for Water and Wastewater Utilities. Using the standard ArcGIS for Utilities model, compliant products such as Cityworks can be placed into a public works agency without any modification to the underlying GIS. This avoids the costly re-engineering and time-consuming data conversion that slows the progress of many implementations.
Cityworks for ArcGIS supports work orders, service requests, activities, tasks, tests and inspections, search and reporting, customer service response, and other related activities for features built into the ArcGIS for Utilities GeoDatabase. Cityworks not only extends the inherent data model to manage work activities, but also supports detailed activity tracking such as labor, material, and equipment use and associated costs. Cityworks generates both printed work orders and maps for field crews with all printing fully integrated with Microsoft Office products. Cityworks also supports sophisticated work related activities such as projects, permits, sub-tasks, activity sequencing, multiple crews, and personnel.
Cityworks is built on similar flexible foundation as ESRI’s ArcGIS. This means that a Public Works or Utility agency can implement only those parts of the system that are needed for any particular user. While some users will need only the ability to manage customer calls and service requests, other users will require work orders management, inspections, and tests. Still others may need to perform detailed attribute and graphic editing. All of these components can be managed for individual users.
Cityworks supports a wide variety of search and reporting tools. Users can build spatial and tabular queries to search for any type of information contained in the open work management database. Outside Cityworks’ Ad Hoc Search tools, several powerful and leading off the shelf search engines can be used and in tandem with the GIS data. The results of these searches can be easily incorporated into Microsoft Office documents and graphs.
A wide variety of easy-to-use data entry screens make Cityworks a wise choice for those utilities that are just starting to build a GIS. These same screens are equally useful for those mature sites that merely need to maintain a changing and growing system.
