The Cityworks User Conference is taking place in Salt Lake City, Utah, this week. Showcasing Cityworks’ latest innovations, ideas and technology, the Cityworks User Conference is an excellent forum for Cityworks users, business partners and potential users to learn about the benefits of managing infrastructure capital assets with a GIS-centric asset management solution.
Sarah will present her paper, “Playing by the Rules: Simplifying Comprehensive Compliance Reporting through Cityworks,” co-authored by Rob Roff, NCC Operations Service Manager, and Jacob Peck, CH2M Asset Manager, on Thursday, May 21, at 10:15 a.m., during the Cityworks User Conference.
Regulations drive computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Asset Management programs. New Castle County (NCC), in Delaware, implemented Cityworks as their intelligent and cost-effective asset data management system and to improve their compliance reporting.
Responsible for maintaining, designing and constructing more than 1,700 miles of sewers, 44,000+ manholes, 170+ pumping stations and 120,000+ sewer accounts, NCC’s Department of Special Services needed a solution that would allow them to manage their wastewater infrastructure and meet regulatory compliance standards.
CH2M worked closely with NCC to configure Cityworks to include database triggers, dashboards and detailed reports to support comprehensive CMOM compliance—all at the click of a button—supporting the county’s stormwater BMPs, FOG program, sewer engineering and CIP, project management, sewer maintenance and construction. No longer would NCC have to spend days and weeks gathering data for regulators, instead a single report pulls the county’s information together.
With Cityworks, NCC gained real-time insight into their infrastructure assets and can more effectively manage asset and program performance. Cityworks helped NCC combine multiple data sources across its system and standardize the data—saving hundreds of hours in data gathering. Because of the value NCC received from implementing Cityworks, the county is currently in the process of implementing Cityworks for county facilities, as well as county parks.
We are looking forward to sharing ideas with Cityworks User Conference attendees so they can understand how Cityworks’ open architecture allows for endless possibilities to standardize data sources and reporting. Follow the conference dialogue on Twitter, using the hashtag #CWUC15.
