POWER Engineers announced today that it was selected to implement a Cityworks solution for the City of Danville Utilities and Department of Public Works (DPW). POWER Engineers has been involved in similar Cityworks implementations for over 20 utilities, energy companies, and municipal departments and is one of Azteca Systems’ Gold Business Partners. The City is replacing its Complaint Tracking System with a scalable Work Management solution to manage its electric, gas, water and wastewater and street assets, which reside in an ArcGIS geodatabase.

The project spans four phases to produce immediate payback by implementing Cityworks Service Request module in Phase One and setting the stage for the long-term benefits of implementing the Cityworks Work Order module throughout the Utilities Department and the DPW in the follow-on phases.

POWER Engineers will review and document the business processes of the Utility and DPW related to the installation, construction and maintenance of the City’s assets. Cityworks will enable better tracking and usage reporting of electric, water and gas assets in the utility’s warehouse.

In addition, users will have access through Cityworks to financial, human resource, billing and GIS data residing in the City’s financial, customer information and GIS systems. The Cityworks implementation will enhance DPW’s work order process and asset management for its streets, sewers and building and grounds maintenance activities.

Bart Koenig, Director of POWER Engineers’ GIS and Asset Management Solutions Business Unit, commented: “We are excited to have the City of Danville as a POWER client. The City’s vision for deploying Cityworks to enhance its service to the community and streamline coordination of maintenance and work activities to reduce costs and improve efficiency reflects the City’s commitment to thriving in these challenging economic times.”

Denise Sandlin, Support Services Director, made this comment: “The City chose POWER Engineers to implement Cityworks because the consultants demonstrated a strong understanding of the City’s utility and public works operations and how Cityworks could improve access to and sharing of information critical to our daily business activities.”

In each phase, POWER will provide implementation services as follows:

Implementation Planning and Requirements Gathering
Cityworks Configuration and Installation
Cityworks System Review
System Documentation and Training
System Deployment
Ongoing Support

Finally, the Cityworks Work Management System provides a scalable solution that will support future implementations in other City departments such as Transportation and Parks and Recreation.
