POWER Engineers, Inc. announced today that its Geospatial and Asset Management Solutions Unit was selected to implement Cityworks® PLL (Permits, Licensing, and Land) at the City of Vista, California. POWER has been involved in over 60 different Cityworks implementations for 28 utilities, energy companies, and municipal departments and is one of Azteca Systems’ Platinum Business Partners.
City of Vista is implementing Cityworks PLL for five departments beginning with Code Enforcement. The City is using an incremental method for configuration and deployment in subsequent implementations to several departments including Planning & Land Development, Building Permits and Business Licenses.
POWER began the project with an upgrade of existing Cityworks AMS applications for Facilities and Fire Inspection to the latest AMS version compatible with the version of PLL being implemented during this project. This also included an upgrade of the GIS to ArcGIS 10. Another key aspect of this project is the implementation of AMS for two additional Public Works groups (Sanitary Sewer and Storm Drains).
The implementation of PLL involves the following services:
Project Management
System Upgrade Planning and Support
Cityworks Server for Sewer and Storm business processes including business process workflows and Cityworks configuration.
Cityworks PLL for five City departments including requirements, business process workflow, configuration, training, testing, deployment, and support
Over the years, in order to serve its multiple customers, the city began using asset management systems for managing workloads, and individual departments purchased and implemented separate applications based on their own unique needs, which were not integrated with the city’s Geographic Information System (GIS). Development Services, Planning, Building, Engineering, Fleet Management, Wastewater, Code Enforcement, Fire Prevention, Streets, Facilities, and Business License all use some type of system or tool to manage their work. As a result, the city was using five database systems, numerous Excel spreadsheets, and Access databases.
“Now that the City has adopted Cityworks AMS and PLL as the common platform for asset and workflow management, we are already seeing process efficiency benefits and new opportunities for cost reduction,” states Robert Borowski, GIS Coordinator at the city. “POWER Engineers has been extremely instrumental in our success to date, and we look forward to working with them to deliver Cityworks AMS and PLL solutions throughout the rest of our city departments.”
